Boat sunk?

Me and my friend were in our boat shooting at bears when someone came down the river, also in a boat, and came over to us. He parked his boat right adjacent to ours and then our boat disappeared, dumping us swimming and slowly drowning in the water. Neither of us even had swimming, because that skill is just an accident waiting to happen.

Did the guy destroy the boat out from under us or something? Is that even possible? Or was there a bug at work and the guy is twice a douchebag?

He most likely destroyed it, Normally takes a few hits though, Unless your boat was pretty damaged anyway (which sounds like it was).
