Full screen as in "full screen exclusive" as it's known in proper parlance--Window occupies entirety of the graphics card operations with control over things such as resolution and such. This is what the default client does and has compatibility issues in OpenGL and Java. (Believe it's just HnH, though, as I know of other Java/OpenGL games that do it just fine.)
Compare to a maximized window, which merely means the window size is set to equal the desktop size, which HnH does not do by default.
