Carpentry not working?

I made a new character and after teaching him carpentry i havent been able to access all of the new stuff from that skill.
I cant choose to make buildings, nor can i make the bone saw. Om running out of options on what to right now.

You need to discover their material first (picking it up or out of a container won't work).

For a bonesaw, you need to take a branch off a tree and gather the bone from an animal's corpse (a chicken or rabbit works).
For boards, you need to use bonesaw to make boards from a log. For blocks, chop them into blocks or remove a stump.
