Cartography issues

I've been trying to do some mapping with a quill, some ink and a parchment but every time I try to open the map the map is blank.. Also my mini map has been blank ever since they fixed the lag, help?

Judging by 'quill, ink and parchment' you don't have ender's installed or you're a HEAVY roleplayer. Get it installed, or reinstall it if map doesn't work. I have nothing else to suggest, it's worth a shot.
Edit: Maybe you're using ark.su's client? My map doesn't work there, as well. If so, use Ender's.

map only shows the simplemap atm anyways - has been discussed already...

I still use java... I'm using a school laptop because Maine is awesome

Where has it been discussed? Link, please.
Since "lag reduction" almost every time map has been "simple" for me. But it seemed to me that sometimes it was working properly. Although I could be wrong
