Cast to wrought is disproportionate.

Cast to wrought is disproportionate.

I'm not sure if this is a real bug or if it's supposed to be this way but the last twenty four times (because that's when I started counting) I've tried to make wrought iron from bloom, only two have worked. There is something strange about this, I think. I thought it was supposed to be 2:1, not 12:1. We've wasted a lot of iron on this.

Our mines have been running nonstop, but lately this has become extremely bothersome. We have some wrought, sure, but these odds! I don't know if this problem is endemic or if other people have been seeing the same problem.

That's odd. It seems like 2:1 to me. Maybe the RNG really, really hates you?

we dont have this problem. it ->could<- be a bug but i guess its very very unlikely.
keep on working, im sure your odds will change.
thats the problem with odds. math tell us that, even with 99,99% chance to get lucky, you can have bad luck literally all the time.
also, computers dont generate any random variables....

It's gotten better suddenly. I guess the odds are back on my side... It still was really bizzare. I mean, twenty blooms back to cast iron, one after another!

Oh well. Back to mining.

funny related story.

A university professor once directed his students to produce two a4 pages of random numbers, one typed by hand, and one properly generated by either a computer or d10 rolling and he would pick them apart. He got every single one correct.

What was he looking for? Large repeats of the same number. The students writing random numbers would change up the numbers fairly regularly because to them it didn't look random enough without uniform noise. Where as in reality, if you roll a d10 10,000 times you're typically going to get a few spots where 7 comes up 10 or 20 times in a row.

The overall distribution will tend towards even, but you almost always get runs that don't look random at all.

Your responses have been quite heartening (wait, is that a word? Spell check thinks it is...) :)

Not a bug after all. Just life.

Good luck to you guys in your wrought iron making!
