Massive map glitch

Postby NeoBasilisk » Sat Sep 28, 2013 1:44 am

A 1000x1000 tile area has been wiped clean off the map. This is 1/25 of a supergrid for anyone needing a sense of reference. All buildings and trees are completely gone, although the minimap still shows them. Is there any action that can be taken to restore this terrain? It's rather game-breaking. I get the feeling that posting coordinates is probably the worst possible thing I could do, so I'm not exactly sure how to address this.

its an old news, officially announced by devs, and the coords were posted on the forums when it happened. devs cannot recover it; the backup file is overwritten, iirc.
i think most players who lived there have already relocated or quit. if your LS char got stuck there, you need to talk to loftar. (in other words, no other help coming regarding that. take it as a natural disaster in game.)

lock plz.

It's a new one. Game was fine when my friend and I got on earlier, roughly 2 P.M. central (Sep. 27th), but came home around 7:30 P.M. central to that screenshot. As you can see the map shows everything is there including buildings and trees, but its actually all gone.

From my understanding of what you guys are saying, there is nothing at all that can be done? I've only been playing this game a few days, but it's still upsetting that the work my friend have done was for nothing and we wasted our time.

Would really like some final confirmation on this. Are the buildings/items completely lost or can anything be recovered?

well, sorry for my rushed post, if it is a new one.
just for a reference, viewtopic.php?f=7&t=33075&hilit=data+corruption

if it is indeed a new data corruption, you would need to pm loftar with the account name and the char name in order to confirm. (map coords do not help him per se to locate you, fyi.) BUT you cannot expect them to restore it. if i understand it correctly, the backup is being made and overwritten constantly, so cant go back to a certain time of data unless crashed and stopped. (this is an alpha game for free, after all.)

at the last (or before the last if this is another) data corruption, people lost all high q resources they had stocked up, villages, tools and houses and brickwalls and all fancy items in houses, chars got stuck inside disappeared housing. and as you can read from the above thread, nothing got recovered apart from the chars that got stuck (and items each char was holding or wearing). it went the same with the one before that one too.

so, even though it must be hard for new players, you are still lucky that you did not lose too much.
(there is still a possibility that players/bots did it, though. mini map takes a while to load the current map.)

Do you happen to have coords on the world map to where this happened?

The general default answer to questions like this seems to me to be:

Pm Loftar, in case its a new wiped/corrupted map area he(and You) don't knows about yet.

And ... If Loftar don't likes to get multiple PM's for the same area. He can post known map problem cords in some dedicated map hiccups topic.

... I wonder why "Shoot first, Ask later" seems to be a predominant male problem ...
