Cant start game

ok my friend is trying to play with me on this but for some reason every time he clicks the play button litterally nothing happens
he has java installed, he uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and he even tried making a new account but nothing has worked any ideas? (also hes uncomfortable with downloading enders client mod so thats out of the question)

Open with "Java Web Start Launcher" isn't working?

Check Java Control Panel -> Security Tab -> make sure "enable in browser" checkbox (at top) is checked
