Hidden objects outline won't appear.

When you move yourself behind a tree or something that blocks you, normally your outline is supposed to light up behind it, as well as anything else hidden behind it, but I've been experiencing this problem where it randomly won't appear and it's getting rather obnoxious, I'm not sure if this is a glitch or if there's something I'm doing wrong, so I would appreciate any assistance.

You have to be close enough to the hidden object for it to 'activate'. I find standing with a foot behind it does the trick.

Screenshots demonstrating the situations would be good. Could be an actual bug in something.

what client? When custom like Ender did you change res files (graphic mod)?

When this happens in the default client, it's usually a sign that the server is going to fall over in the next few days. Has there been a crash since Tuesday? (I only got back to the Land of Internet today....)

Search for something like 'yellow outlines bug' and/or 'party bug' from about two years ago; the usual fix is to use Ender's or other custom client; Ender also implemented a fix for parties, but the default client remains the same. I currently have yellow outlines working in Ender's but am not bored enough to try checking the default client. And ctrl+h in a custom client gets rid of most of the need for the yellow outlines, too.
