game and OS crash

Postby desyrio » Mon Nov 23, 2009 10:34 am

Hello,

on my desktop computer (no problem on the laptop) I experienced some crashes during the game, both with the Pacho's client and the normal one. The problem is that after the game has crashed, the OS reports an error and after a few seconds it reboots automatically. I haven't been able to read or screenshot the Java console error, but I think I've read something like "Access Violation", so supposedly it is connected with access to other applications' memory areas. That would also explain why the system reboots
In particular I noticed that the client tends to crash when it has to load new screens, such as when I enter a cabin or teleport (lost 2 boats this way grr :D )

I am using WinXP pro SP3, on a machine with 1 GB RAM and an Intel CPU.
I don't have any problems with applications other than H&H.

Has anyone seen this before? Any idea what it could be connected to?

Thanks

PS. Note that I already removed and reinstalled the Java jre platform, with no result.

That sounds like faulty hardware (or maybe a buggy driver), if you ask me. You may want to run memtest86 or some similar program to check it out.

I'd second that memtest check. Bad hardware/drivers can often look like a software bug, particularly hard drives and ram.
Surprise.
