Character dies for no reason!!

My main character Sanpan IV died for no reason! I got on at 6:30 am, and put some curio. in my study. I get on at 10:00 am and my character is dead. For no reason. I was a little over half health. I'm freaking out. I lost so much time for no reason. we have protected grounds and my body was dead at the hearth fire. I went to inherit but when i used the hearth secret of one of my lads it spawned me completely different. Now I have a character somewhere ive never been and my characters dead?! is this a bug or did something actually happen.

If this is a bug, is there anyway to get my lost character back!?

When something not normal happens you'd read about in the Announcement subforum

I guess you char got sniped (sling or bow) while in process of logging out - even if the client shows you logged out the server in reality needs a few seconds to actually log you out (write in database and such)

Are you sure you put in the correctly written hearthsecret at the guy with crystalball in top left corner ?

Yes I put the hearthsecret and went to the guy in the corner, and my hearth fire was in a safe position. Well I've never been this upset about a game... but having put this much time into a character i feel. cheated. I did everything correctly after doing it numerous times before. (this is my 4th character) i've only like a month in the game but I'm pretty sure I would know if i'm safe to log or not...

safe position = inside house ?

If someone killed you face to face he'd prolly taken your skull that's why i think you got sniped - if you've logged out inside a house there would be scents or someone tricked you ( if there wasn't other reasons that your health went down rapidly)

i suggest typing the hearthsecret in Notepad and copy it with CTRL+V into the mans field to make sure - if your friends hearthfire is alive at your spot you should get spawned there not in wilderness

Yes the hearthfire was inside a house behind palisade walls.
I knew the hearthsecret . I know I didn't mess it up... I really don't want to start all the way from the beginning just to get back to the state i was in... This sucks, but fuck it.

To see if it's a bug we need to elimate all other possible reasons that's why i ask

Yes the hearthfire was inside a house behind palisade walls.

sounds like you got pali-bashed and then summon-killed at your hearth fire. palisade walls are not considered "safe" compared to brickwalls.
have you committed a crime like thieving or vandalizing recently?

Was your character on starving, and did you turn your computer off, or leave it on?

I had a bug a while ago where my farmer stayed logged on, even though I had closed my client window.
I had to restart my computer to actually log him off, so I could get back on. iirc he lost about 200hhp from starving.
