Character dies when summoned with scent

i leave this game for a long time so i don't know this is bug or not. if not then sorry ;[

today, i wondering around to find place for live with my friend. i traveling via breaking my hearth fire.
and i found good place for live! so i tell my friend to log out, and i used "Stink of Battery" Scent to summon him.
i turned my criminal act, and summoned him.. suddenly he died! i didn't attack him even!
what kind of magic is this?
