Permanently stuck in combat?

Postby KoE » Fri Jun 12, 2009 11:39 pm

I tried to 'slaughter' a cow by punching it (just to see what would happen and because I figured I could use the meat). Cue not having nearly enough unarmed combat skill to hit the bovine, and I decided to run off and leave it for another day. This may or many not be relevant.

I then attempted to immigrate to Bottleneck, got woefully lost, and knocked out by the orange menace (aka foxes). I figured I'd just log out to start the whole mess over again, and that's when I realized I still have a big purple question mark (three now, actually) where the combat portraits are. I noticed it during the cow thing but didn't think too much of it. This is starting to look rather grim as I foxes seem to hit me as soon as I regenerate any HP. I also have absolutely no idea where I am, and logging in and out doesn't seem to do any good.

I'm not 100% sure this is a bug, but I can't imagine a cow staying hostile while I walked halfway across the map is a feature. The character's name is Owen Quillion, if that'll help save the poor guy.

they follow for like half an hour or something. Waaay to long. but you can instantly lose it by entering a cabin or mine. Or just come back tomorrow.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Yeah, but if you do leave the computer don't be surprised if you starve to death.

Are you looking at your mini-map in the bottom left corner of the screen, and comparing it to the world map?

It is a little hard to get lost because all of the terrain features are in pretty distinct patterns.

Edit: If you show me where in the world map you are, I might be able to come help you out.

Thankfully, the foxes wandered off when I posted this and I have since made my escape, skirted around a swamp and am currently regenning next to an apple tree. (No buildings in site though).

I have been using the mini-map as best I can, but it's a tidbit small (too small to readily ID the shapes... I'm pretty sure I mistook one of the desert blobs for another) and I can't seem to enlarge it. I do have my bearings now though, so the offer of help is much appreciated but thankfully not needed.

EDIT:

The cow aggro has (finally) worn off and I've basically reached my destination. So, yeah, crisis averted, 'bug' solved.

I will fix so that combat relations time out if nothing happens in them for a while. The current "time-out" of twenty minutes is only because animals are removed if no-one has seen them for that long.
