it's traditionally been called a 'bear trap' because it was used on bears for a couple of different resasons (either protection form the bear or preventing the bear from running away). The devs know. It's something that will be fixed in the future. Like the cart/leather exploit it just hasn't been fixed yet and is thus free to exploit.

its easier to just trap yourself in =D
Edit: The cart tanning bug was actually added by loftar because there was a time the server was so unstable that nobody could actually get leather.
