Client Java Error

Postby Kargaroc » Fri Dec 25, 2009 10:56 pm

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this.

I played H&H a while back (around a year ago) and then moved to a different place and could no longer play due to computer problems. I have a new computer now, and would like to get back into the game. When I try to log in at the Ring of Brodgar with my old character, I get this:

java.lang.RuntimeException: java.net.SocketException: socket closed
at haven.Session$RWorker.run(Session.java:427)
Caused by: java.net.SocketException: socket closed
at java.net.PlainDatagramSocketImpl.peekData(Native Method)
at java.net.DatagramSocket.receive(Unknown Source)
at haven.Session$RWorker.run(Session.java:420)

And the client closes. Is this because the character is so old? I always get this error, but occaisionally the game does load (I can even walk a short distance) before this happens. Anyone know a way to fix this or do I need to make a new character? I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 and have the newest version of Java installed.

make sure you have the manufacturers video card drivers, i doubt that's what's causing this problem but it definitely causes problems using the default win7 drivers

are you behind a firewall or a router?

seems like you're having some sort of connection problems with the client.

I downloaded the driver and installed it and made sure that the program was allowed through the firewall but I still get the error.

EDIT
Okay, turns out I enabled it on Windows Firewall but not on the Norton Security Firewall, Norton was blocking it. Problem solved. Now, back to grinding! :)
