This is unfortunately, normal depending on when you play. If you look at the bottom of the home page it tells you how many players are on or if the server has crashed. Lately we often have more than 200 players and when we do horrible lag occurs. It can occur at other times too of course.

Glacial lag with few players logged on is a likely warning that the system is about to crash. In this situation put down anything you have picked up with the lift command, or if and when the server crashes you will not be able to log in at the place you were standing as the basket or boat or dead fox you were holding will be in the way.

The players are currently aggressively agitating to have Something Done Soon, and the devs are currently diligently troubleshooting to figure out the exact source of the problem. Is it the ISP connection? Apache taking all the server processing capacity? The solution to the problem appears to likely involve $$$ for a seperate Apache server, or dedicated hosting or something. New RAM has twice not been sufficient. There is a donate button at the bottom of the page, should two or three bucks seem a not excessive thing to offer in this current situation.

Not entirely correct. After we bought the first batch of new ram, we switched to a completely different server, with a better processor. The old and the new ram-types were incompatible. On friday, we pulled the server down to temporarily -- while we wait for the new batch that we have ordered -- fit it with some RAM from my own computer, which failed, since it refused to boot with that RAM. Loftar suspects that the motherboard is somehow foobar.

I.e. We have 2 gigs of RAM in the mail, but we might also have to get a new motherboard.
