Hearths in Mines

When a hearth is in a mine you can't track the perpetrator.

Simple as that - fix please.

I'm pretty sure you can, now. Have you checked recently?

Well, the clue he's seen this on is on my land (and I've been attempting to track it as well). As soon as I saw it, I tried it, got the 'perp not logged in message', and then tried the Hearthfire. I got the error 'Perp cannot be tracked from this place', which according to the announcement thread means he's set up in a mine.

I decided to double-check and hiked up to the Ring of Brogdar to see if I could force-summon him there (that's doable with Theft clues, correct?) and I couldn't get it to work either, so I assume he actually has a Hearth. He also logged in a couple of times later and I got the same error message, until he briefly showed up above ground... just long enough for me to drop everything I was doing, rush across Bottleneck, and discover he'd logged off about two uses into the trail.

That was around noon CST (GMT-6), and I'm getting the same result now (6:45 CST).

Maybe, then, that's his hearth fire which is in the Inn of Brodgar? The Inn is using an old house implementation, which doesn't support tracking of stuff inside it.

Hmm - I'll check it out. Guess I'm making another hike up there.

Made the trip; I right-clicked the fire with the clue in hand, right clicked the fire with the clue in my inventory, and tried everything I could think of - didn't seem to work. Not sure if that implies that's not his hearthfire or if you can't force-summon from hearthfires there.

EDIT:

I also dropped the clue I was carrying in one of the baskets in the Inn, if anybody else wants to fiddle with it.

Ah. :)

I checked it out, and it turned out to be the stench of Jorb (a foul one indeed); and his hearth fire is in a parallel dimension, so to speak, so no, it cannot be tracked from middle-earth.

Perhaps it should say "H4X! THIS HEARTHFIRE IS IN A PARALLEL DIMENSION! JOOOOORRRRBBBBB!!!" when you try to track his hearthfire? :P

I'm not sure whether to be honored (I can only assume he was checking if my crucibles need refueling - at least I certainly hope so) or mildly miffed that that I've been on a wild goose chase all day chasing the game's rough equivalent of God (or some unimaginable entity from beyond the fabric of space and time).

Probably the former, as I needed to get acquainted with the roadways to Brodgar most likely. The orthagonal/isometric/what-ever-cha-ma-callit stuff still screws me from time to time. And the fact all three treks I've made that way have been on near-moonless nights didn't help, heh.

I do agree that it'd be nice to have some sort of message like "Tremble, mortal, for you track the great Jorb!" or something.

Haha. I try to delete the clues I leave, but I forget sometimes. Sorry. :)
