Chest Disappearing When people logout holding

Its exactly as the topic describes. A newbie to our settlement picked up a chest inside of a cabin and disconnected or logged out I don't know which. And the chest disappeared permently. This chest contained all of our mining equipment. Pickaxes, mining helmets, all of it along with a ton of leather. This pisses me off since I'll have to use wrought iron to replace it. But, wow this bug could easily be used for horrible griefing, and i'm sure it will cause much crying in the future for anyone else who runs into this bug. It'd be cool of Jorb or someone could help me get the chest back, but i fear it is gone forever.

No offence or anything, but like you said yourself, if a Griefer reads this, s/he'll know to do that. Things like this should just be PM'd to the Admins.

I am so glad I never tried that - though I was thinking of starting the experiment with a wicker basket containing junk. (There are times I want to keep stuff really safe, and the safest place right now is in someone's inventory - especially someone who is logged out, and who hasn't left any clues behind them ;-)) So I'd wondered whether I could lift a container before logging out rather than transferring items to my inventory. I guess that wouldn't be a good idea.

p.s. you have my sympathy on the loss - that sounds really painful.

well on the other hand pll who read this wont make the same mistake. i also suggest not to knock someone out while he/she is carrying something. im not sure if it was fixed yet but i got stuck when that happened and i couldnt get rid of my chest anymore. only solution -> logging out. you can imagine what happened.

That sounds a little weird to me, though. I even tried it myself, and carried things were put back when I logged out.

It could be a problem if there wasn't enough room to put the chest back on that spot, though (other things being nearby and obscuring its base area). I should fix that -- though it is a bit unclear how. The best way I can think of is displacing it a bit randomly.
