by Moogie » Wed Apr 21, 2010 2:19 am It has always been 'normal' that the client doesn't enjoy loading. It used to be that I'd just end up with a window showing nothing but a black screen. Now, however, I'm lucky if the window appears at all.
Running the client will always start a javaw.exe process, but it is completely random chance whether that proceeds to then load up the client window or not.By random, I mean that I can try loading the client 20 times in a row, changing absolutely nothing (save for terminating the javaw.exe) after every attempt, and eventually, even though no variables have changed and I've just been executing the jnlp again and again, it will randomly succeed on one of those attempts, even after failing multiple times in a row at first.
It was weird, and didn't make any sense, but as long as it eventually worked, I decided it didn't matter. I was happy to play at all. :]
I would say that it loaded 1 out of every 7-10 attempts before, but lately it seems to have gotten a lot worse. Last time I tried, I kept going at least 30 times in a row, but eventually gave in. I took a break for a few days, tried again today, and still cannot load the game.
So... I guess this is it.
I didn't mind trying again and again until it decided to work, but I'm out of luck this time. I've really enjoyed my short time playing this beautiful little game, and suspect my farm has already started to decay in my absence, but I'm not going to obsess over getting it working. It's been a few days now, but it looks like I will have to wait until the client is more stable, so it will all be gone by the time I can log in again.
