Two Hearth Fires

Postby kobnach » Wed Jul 08, 2009 3:22 pm

I moved my hearth fire - and the old one remains. What's worse, the old one had been placed to trap my cabin, which I intended to give to a friendly newb. The newb is now trapped in the cabin. She can log off and go back to her own hearth fire - but I had left her some tools, which she cannot get to. (I'd advised her to put her own hearth where mine had been, leaving the stuff inside. She walked in with the material to build it, and found this surprise.

The game treats my new hearth as mine for purposes of logging in at my hearth fire; I checked.

Follow up - the old hearth fire appears to have become an unlit normal fire, which the new tenant has now lit. Hopefully she'll be free to take possession when it burns out. Maybe this is not a bug.

Did the game crash recently? It could be that it saved your new Hfire placement was saved due to the "Save while exiting" feature, but a crash caused your old Hfire to relight. It's happened to one of my former neighbors at least twice (And they're still there...)
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

Yeah a similar event happened to me, but instead of 2 hearthfires, I still had my old hearth, but my new one disappeared and I ended up spawning at the RoB. Anyways I just PM'd Loftar and he removed my old one for me.

Thanks again Loftar!

I think it should be possible to remove your old hearth fires by right clicking them now. And, yes, old hearth fires are converted into fireplaces when you build a new hearth.
