Faster than a speeding bullet?

Postby Blaze » Sun Jul 12, 2009 12:34 am

I was building a wall, when suddenly some guy passes through the entire screen in about 2 seconds. I didn't even SEE any move animation, and he moved so fast that I couldn't get a name.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

I do believe that the devs have a means to do that. I've seen Jorb do it, though I'd describe it more as short-distance teleportations done rapid-fire.

No headgear at all.

That's very bad- it suggests that unless the game was "fixing" someones position somehow, that someone has a modded client; though I'd be surprised that the game would let the client take care of movement of all things.

Especially since the UI seems to be server-side.
Surprise.

Indeed, the client would have no way to determine movement, modded or not; all it sends to the server are where you click with the mouse.

Most likely, it was me zooming past; I haven't been wearing the Hat lately, and I've been teleporting around a lot to sight-see all the great walls people have been building. :)

That's a relief; the last four games I tried to get into went south when goons with modded clients moved in.

Ooh, didja see mine? (Well, the one belonging to the character that is not named the same as my account name...) I stayed up late to build it and went to bed after the sun had risen (more than it usually does by the time I go to bed, anyway), so it almost literally appeared overnight. =P
