I solo alot. This world as well. Even when I join a village, I keep my hermit place going. The village is a fall ack when my hermit place gets raided, and the hermit place is fall back for when the village gets raided.

Might join a village this time if I find an interesting one while wandering.

The interesting ones (size wise, because of the inner dynamics) usually slaugher random wanderers, at least they did in the last worlds.

It goes without saying that I largely avoid violent factions and their territories. Kept me (mostly) alive the past worlds.

Don't let these guys scare you from going solo. While being in a group can help you develop quicker, it doesn't mean another group still won't destroy you just as quick. Honestly, I feel like groups are more dangerous because if any of the people steal something then BAM everyone is screwed.

Just spend the first few hours of your game travelling in the same general direction to get away from most people, that's what I've always done. Sometimes you get raeped, sometimes you meet nice people.

It's all in the dice that god "doesn't play".
