Att. Jorbtar : Let W16 live!

Postby Granny » Thu Jul 16, 2026 1:32 pm

With the news of a live stream comes the question - will there be a W17 now, and subsequently what about this lovely world of 16? Will it continue to live on?

As I have previously written I have enjoyed immensely the slow pace that has come with W16. I have had some time to do all the things I normally do not have time for. And - again: I would love for it to just be there, as Legacy have been for so many years.

Cheers!

No, get yourself together and let things go
W16 should die, parallel worlds showed it's bad

I wonder what it costs to keep W16 running for those few players. One player on a bronze sub would be enough to make it profitable, right?

What seem to be the potential options:

1) They start a 16.2 world (with some additional minor new stuff). Which would leave 16.0 world as is.

2) They start a 17.0 world (or perhaps even test start a 17.1 world first). Which would include major new stuff.
Here they still could:
2a) keep world 16.0 alive ... in case they might need to test how 2 different (code wise) game-servers workout. (16.0 & 16.1 are probably both using the same main server/game code, with some time tweaks ofc.)
2b) Kill world 16.0. (new world would than be a 17.0 case)

3) This is an option that makes no sense at all. They start both a 17.0 and 17.1 world.

Time will tell. ... I bet they take option 3. :P

Indeed. It is probably an easy calculation. Keep players happy so they keep paying in a forever home as W16, or risk losing those players all together.
