Hermit Base Designs

I really wonder how you guys make up your bases, i mean do you focus on beauty, or fashion or do you focus on functionality or fast producing spamming etc.

So yea i might have alot to learn from your base designs..

If Jordan Coles, or someone that's been to his base, has a picture of his base they should post it. It's a pretty cute hermit base IMO.

I focus on both design and functionality at my hermit base ... you want efficiency in order for things to run smoothly with the minimum amount of effort, esp as a hermit when you are solely responsible for all areas of productivity, getting the set up correct leaves you time for the more fun aspects of the game, which for me would be getting away from the confines of the base and exploring, visiting neighbours and meeting other players in the game.

At the same time design is also important to me and the reason why I still run a hermit base at all, with terraforming and all the new materials and colours in Haven now there is so much more you can do to create a beautiful and efficient base. :)

Location, location, location. First being "underwater cave", second being "where to place main building in relation to walls", and the last "where to put all the facilities so you don't stumble upon them while moving from one production area to another". After that, I'm all for design, although I, being a dedicated cave dweller, tend to make my bases dwarvishly austere. Had a hiccup with that this world, when I demolished my temporary gray/black Stonestead to build a Great Hall and mistakingly used too much King's Oak.

If you wish to learn from base designs, you should probably encourage people to post screenshots of their bases with some explanatory comments on what's what ahd why's that.

Well it took some doing (and I prolly used way too much green) but here it is:

A few additional notes:
Inside the palisade - private area, others allowed only under strict supervision. Between palisade and brickwall - kin allowed, to stay in the Towers and grab spare tools, items and workstations I no longer need.
Towers: they have a huge cellar and a lot of compartmentalized levels, but those levels are small and inconvenient to actually live in, so they're best used for secondary purposes - as a production rooms or warehouses.

Please disregard the utterly abominable color of my Great Hall. I can't bring myself to actually remake it using much more appropriate planewood... not yet, at least.

it isn't really an issue, I always have 1 trough at my agricultural base getting filled with spare vegetables, and 1 trough at my underground base, getting emptied by my horses. Once in a while, I swap the troughs.

Did you actually count my drying frames? >.< That facility was set up back when I was actively gathering all the resources I could put my hands on, and with help of a few friends. Those drying frames were rarely empty 'cause several of those friends were dedicated hunters. That's why those frames are outside of the walled area, by the way. Now I have neither need for such an extensive production, nor a desire to demolish unnecessary drying frames just for kicks.

Tell me, did I annoy you somehow?
