IMHO I think this will further inhibit the reintegration of convicts into society by limiting the amount of contact they have with it prior to their release. Reconviction rates are already high enough and I don't think limitations like this help anyone.

What does Haven think about it?

What is purpose of prison?

Did you even read the article I linked?

Relog you idiot. You're posting on wrong account.

My opinion:

Prisoners should all rot in their cells and reflect on what they did, While I do not agree with why MOST people go to prison (Minor drug offenses), For those who are going there for much more uh, how will I put it, "serious" crimes? They shouldn't get any type of recreation, it's prison, not day camp. you're there because you broke the law, and are there to reflect on why you did it, and why you shouldn't do it again.

If they miss their family, maybe they will think about not doing the shit they did again, so they can be out of prison, and with them, rather than wasting my tax payer money to fund their ass a free house that they will inevitably go back to because their reform programs just don't fucking work.

Let's be honest here. Prison in the states is not about punishment or rehabilitation, it's about making money. Their whole justice system is as broken as their political one.

In the civilized world criminals are punished and then an attempt is made to rehabilitate them. It's totally the wrong way of going about dealing with sociopaths and psychopaths though. If rehabilitation was the primary concern that would be the focus, but instead people seem to think two wrongs will miraculously make a right.

My main issue with prisons is how much they cost the taxpayer. It's stupid on so many levels, either kill them or rehabilitate them, don't send them to what is known to be "criminal university" where they gain skills and contacts which make them even more dangerous upon release.

Phone calls are not going to help imho, who are they going to call and why torture them further by rubbing in their faces in everything they can't see or smell or touch...
Laying flat.

I would like for all forum members to take a moment and appreciate this thread where masks were lost by sheer sloppiness, identities revealed and other stuff happened.

As for the topic, I always assumed penitentiary facilities were having a twofold purpose: to reintegrate deviant persons back into society, if possible, and to protect the society from disfunctional/deviant members, regardless of possibility of reintegration. Denying the communication (via phonecalls and whatnot) would be undermining the first purpose for the sake of second. Allowing the communications without any control would do the opposite. Charging inmates for phonecalls, in my opinion, isn't the perfect solution; but it is a very decent half-measure.

The fact that you messed up had nothing to do with my input on the topic which you conveniently failed to quote Arvin.

Because Arvin and I being the same person hasn't been a running joke or anything for oh, I don't know, months?

You couldn't be any more gullible for bullshit, I swear.
