Also I have never built one but couldn't you just not use a palisade gate and instead use a fence gate? As long as it doesn't path through the fence it shouldn't break it and then you can deaggro without it running away. If you don't need to deaggro then you don't even need a gate right?

It's work, but there is a small flaw - if you missclick there is possibility to stuck and die. It's mostly because people start panicing, but anyway.

The idea behind the trap is that you kill the mammoth from a "safe zone": you wait inside your palisade and lure it with an alt so no one can interfere with your kill. All I can say is that you can slightly modify the standard design to achieve the same result.

To update this thread, you can now enter visitor gates while in combat if you do not have Rage, so the same trap will still work.
