Hopefully this poem helps some Charlies out there. Don't give in, understanding can make this world and others and in IRL a better place, and help it grow again with more some-bodies.

But of course.. that might be a fleeting dream

Every time I try to get someone new into this game, they inevitably love the potential of it. Then, because I am too employed to handhold them all the time, they inevitably come across someone with ill intention who not only wants to kill them, but wants to play out a power fantasy while doing it.

The community in this game is genuinely self destructive. "Sluts are good for the economy, hehe, wanna pay me to leave" says the most recent guy through my neighbor's wall. I get the screenshot while putting my son's coat on and getting him ready for daycare. My friend's home is having his palisade bashed in. Womp womp.

If this happens to me, it's whatever. That's haven. I'm already hooked and I've been playing for over a decade.

To a new player this is a really good look at who your fellows are and how the game is designed before he really got to see the rest of the game's potential. He's out. I'm down a potential villager. The game's down a potential paying customer.
