Sleep Well - The Best Pessimist

This track reminds me of The Cold Equations (a short story) by Tom Godwin.
“We still, alas, cannot forestall it-
This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

Still not happy with it and might redo eventually but I'm super critical of my own stuff

I'm surprised to hear a Tiger's Jaw cover on here. Sounds pretty good, but I actually dislike how much it harmonizes at the half-way mark, it sounds like it's ringing.

Here's a demo tape from another emo (sorta punkish) band I like, it's super short:

Tigers Jaw is one of my favourite bands at the moment

So you prefer the disjointed first half?
I'm trying to find a balance

I like Joyce Manor too btw, had some of their stuff on my playlist for a while now. Have you listen to the Front Bottoms or Johnny Hobo?

Think the first half has a unique character to the song, the middle to 3/4th has an annoying ringing quality, the last 1/4th has a good harmonization.

And yes, I'm familiar with the Front Bottoms and Johnny Hobo. If you want bands like the Front Bottoms, McCafferty sounds a lot like them, and Modern Baseball is often considered their slightly more popular/dramatic counterpart. Andrew Jackson Jihad is an interesting band that has similar anarcho/punk characteristics to Johnny Hobo, and there's obviously Johnny Hobo's other identities/groups (Pat the Bunny, Ramshackle Glory, Dishwasher's Union, etc).

And a song from my favourite emo band, that's not really punkish at all like those guys:

I started listening to McCafferty about a month ago and I've seen Modern Baseball live with Say Anything. I've also been listening to Andrew Jackson Jihad since highschool and I've played a few of their tunes live a few times as well lol

Sounds like we have pretty similar music tastes then
