Except the server isn't in java. If it were loftar's druthers, the client would be the same as the server: C and can only be ran on Linux. :lol:

I'm sure someone is doing something they shouldn't if it's going on at 800, or there's another flaw in the system. That's a lot of resources getting consumed for so few connections.

Lag Fix

Honestly, implementing separate servers for different islands could solve a loooot of issues with netcode and lags. It could also allow for expanding of the game easily. Few second transitions to swap between servers is an easy thing to do. Well I assume main server is not a spaghetti where everything can't be separated easily, but still. It fixes many issues with lags and provides some bonus opportunities later into the game.

How is it a bad idea? You just have different server for each island. You can still swim with knarr to different island like you need to do now. Nothing really changes.

I agree that its a good idea to solve some performance issues.
But probably takes lot of time to implement properly, so maybe not.

You could synchronize time between servers via system clock so there wouldnt be issue of crops growing faster on less-laggy continents or such.

Aware that the lag is pretty brutal. Will look to get a server upgrade asap.
