It would require very clear communication towards the playerbase, as currently many players are relying on HFs being blocking. Imagine waking up one day, logging in and finding all your stuff stolen and/or destroyed without any scents. Then when you head to the forums to complain you see an announcement saying HFs are suddenly no longer blocking.

I would personally be unaffected, but it'd be extremely harsh on a lot of people unless they're properly informed in advance.

Will investigate. Thanks. Moving is probably a good idea.

Is there a reason that hearth-fires aren't just non-solid except for object placement?

Seems like it would solve a lot of problems, and based on me not getting stuck coming out the door as someone else on the houses, standing there doesn't seem to be an issue.

Considering alts have an initial fee of walking time now, why not make hearthfires have no soak to their owner?

I don't see any reason to limit a starting character to being able to break their hearth in the current mechanics. It doesn't solve the blocking issue, but it does allow blocked players to escape while a more elegant solution is thought up.
