The fact that you messed up had nothing to do with my input on the topic which you conveniently failed to quote Arvin.

Come on dude. Do you actually believe Burinn is Arvin. Seriously arvin is the kind of person who would pretend to be someone else and post something like that for the soul purpose of just being a asshole. I find it much more likely that arvin is being his normal self trying to annoy the shit out of another person as for the prison situation i agree with you a prison has 2 purposes and rehibilitation and protection and neither of those purposes should outrule the other.

Amanda or something started to perpetuate it in a thread a few weeks ago, and I forget who it was before that. Sabinati maybe.

I'm no fan of capital punishment, but it was better than our current system. Jalpha has the right of it. It's a corporate ploy to make money off the system. The legal system in the US is a mess and goes against everything put in the Constitution. Even the courts aren't legal (what are we holding court under maritime law for?) It's also a means for suppressing minorities and the poor who would threaten the control of power of those that have it.

As for those that need to rot in prison... There's a quote from a famous politician a few decades ago, and I'm paraphrasing, but it goes like "If you want to see the scum of the Earth, just go to a prison at shift change."

I am seriously humbled by your comment. I read the OP carefully and tried my best to apply my common sense to the issue. That was my honest mistake. If the situation is half as you describe it, ain't no common sense in there.

Sorry for the somewhat trollish post, but my personal experience with the legal system in the US has left me with not just a bad taste in my mouth, but feel like I'm being forced to eat a ton of horse shit. I'm probably the last person to comment on it if you want an intellectual discussion.

There's a good reason why prison guards are called screws. The line between the criminals and the enforcers of "justice" is blurry at best. They are the same "type" and all that separates them is that one group targets victims who society has deemed should be victims.
Laying flat.

You guys should all just watch Shawshank Redemption. It basically sums up this entire argument and is a great movie too.

I'd never go to prison. Fuck that noise, it's horribly broken. Our whole judicial system is fucked.

This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.
