Seems to me the best solution is to not feverishly worry about what amounts to a tiny amount of hunger gain in the grand scheme of things and would ultimately mean maybe a few stat points of difference over the course of an entire world.

do you actually even play this game

you can try to refill your energy off of various crap and easily hit 150% efficacy or worse before you even fill your energy bar from 5k

the difference between 300% and 200% is already significant enough to be a lot more than "a few stat points of difference"
