From the village of snail, it has long been said that they will arrange a dudos if there is no wipe, so they waited :(

Just checked it out myself, and they do handle other things than web traffic, but since I need to "contact sales" for that, there's a large chance it isn't worth it. I'm also considering just getting a small hird of virtual servers from Hetnzer just to fliter and forward traffic to the real server, but then I'd have to write a system to do that job. Again, I suspect this will just peter out soon enough and noone will think of it again, but we'll see.

One can only guess the motives behind it.
Maybe people are getting tired of devs not fixing the various, much discussed problems...

If I had to guess, it will not be in realm of this games budget. But I may be wrong of course.

Getting a few VPSs from Hetzner is certainly well within the budget.

Maybe it will be worth to give them personal wipe - ban them, if it's technically possble. (Though, i suspect, such proposition will get me banned even faster)

Well yes I meant the Cloudflare protection.
I'm not sure if virtual servers would do anything but waste time, in case the attacker has enough capacity/will to refine his attack though?

Don't you use authentication server with tokens?

If so shouldn't the only thing getting hammered be the login server?
The main servers would be dropping everything like flies with firewall.
Just switch up login server.

It could just be snail bots went hairwire too might want to ban snail to be safe. ;)

Good question, for sure. Ijust imagine that having 10 or 20 to spread an attack over might be a lot better than nothing.

They're both running on the same physical hardware, but no, the authentication daemon is completely unaffected. It's just random traffic directed at the main server UDP port. The main server has some slightly elevated CPU usage due to it, but it's no big deal. The only real problem is the network congestion.

Recently, a person on discord boasted that he could force the uprising of W13 by destroying the game.....

This is the same person that BOTs spam in chat

but how much truth there is, I don't know

People tend a boast a lot on Discord. I wouldn't put any weight on it.
