the funny part is that they would be able to instantly afford an anti-ddos service from some 3rd party company or some kind of extra protected service from hetzner itself if they actually rolled out a new world since all the W12 1 year subs are ending within the next few weeks and people will only be re-subbing if there is a new world

that aside, this is slowly inching towards an impressive effort from shubla and his anti-snail minions, I bet snail is feeling pretty flattered right now by having so much hate and protest revolving around him

But for some reason server has issues only occasionally.

Won't pretend Im somekind of network security pro, but judging on some tracerouting I've made, it seems that the problem occurs specifically with hetzner ddos-protection system, that the bottleneck preventing ppl from access to game-server. So maybe consulting with Hetzner techs could be not so bad idea, in case loftar hadn't do it already.

Thats a pity.
Have you found out the actual cause yet?
Maybe hetzner could help (probably not)
or then try some more expensive host like ovh? They must offer something for the increased price after all.
I think Hetzner sells 10gbit/s connections for quite cheap to use in their servers as an additional service.
Of course that may not be of help if the issue truly lies somewhere else and the used bandwidth of the server is actually the one mentioned earlier. But I could see a remote chance of that helping.

Hetzner doesn't provide any additional ddos service I think. They only provide the one which is already included in all servers.
I highly doubt 3rd party companies would be of help for cheap enough, seatribe is such a small customer after all that I doubt they would lend any of their valuable experts time to it for free/cheap.
Though contacting cloudflare for example is free, so there isn't much to lose for trying... Maybe they have some solution after all?

Not yet. Finding out the next step requires some slightly more significant development investment, and I'm currently quite busy working on the "bigger thing" Jorb mentioned instead of last week's patch, unfortunately. In that way, this attack has been quite unfortunately timed.

I've contacted them to see if there's anything that can be done, but I haven't got a reply yet. Not that I'm really expecting them to be able to do anything above what they have by default.

Moving to new hosting isn't so fast and easy that it's something I'd do "just to see if it helps". I'd definitely to the "proxy hird" thing prior to that.

Well you can proxy the new hosting too. Will add quite a delay of course but easy to test if it helps.

Probably costs a fortune but they do seem to offer demo of their enterprise-version.

True enough, but if I have to develop the proxying support to being with anyway, there's no reason not to try it out on a Hetzner network first.

when these attacks hit it reminds me of the good old days of the rubberband worlds. w3 and w6 if i remember right. i played through those world to. this sucks but not gonna stop me from playing. i miss when the server message went out to all from jorb and loftar " who stole my WWW!" and the world was reset back 10 mins, and that was are biggest issues haha.

I havent looked at purus pasta bots code, but can old bots api be artificially deprecated with the update, so old client would require some kind of complete rework like with the Amber client right now? i havent slept for two days so my text may be inapprehensible

It's kinda fun to see how all snail's asslickers try to continue blame shubla, despite everyone understands who's standing behind these attacks... It's really pleasant to see how badly they organized. just playing their roles by scenarios no matter how the current situation changed. Still waiting when SS will show up to say he was doing it to show devs their network vulnerabilities and how heroic he is.
