I've linked the idea thread which preceded it in the first world.

Originally, all hearthlings spawned from one location in the center of the map, called the Ring of Brodgar. The village is named after this ring.

The ring persists, even today, at the center coordinate of every world (0, 0).

Yolan also used to make a village called Brodgar, regularly, every world, up until world 7, where after some hundred or so people settled, it was raided into inactivity. Eventually, Yolan hung up his hat on the idea of Brodgar. Will he return? Who knows. The leadership of Brodgar was handed off to the chieftain at the time who, without great success, kept the heart of Brodgar beating until the release of Hafen.

What transpired some months after Yolan's disappearence, was the arrival of a man named Robben DuMarsch, who created a location called New Brodgar. This village existed simultaneously with the Chieftain's Brodgar, and the "New" was intended to distinguish the two villages.

Eventually, during World 8, and this current world, "World 9," Robben carried the standard of "New Brodgar," presenting a promise of a grid-based village with, more-or-less, an uninvolved political body.

Haven & Hearth history is very fun—early H&H history, especially.

Thank you. You should write a post about HaH history with your pals. That would be very interesting. It's so amazing how much player-generated politics there are in this game; similar to WoW's financial system. I don't play WoW or much of HaH but I think both games give a lot of insight into how communities work. Who knows, maybe writing a paper about this games social history could be used by real sociologists.

Anyway, thank you,
Ace

People who played throughout a world should write a memoir based on their experience in a certain world, then we could compile that into a list and keep it somewhere to have a collection of memoirs sorted by world and ordered by category (hermit/faction/trader etc.) that people could read through to get some sort of understanding of the history of Haven starting from Legacy W1

That was the point when we did such section. Maybe someone should start doing same thing here

Sodom is a major faction in world 3 that started very early in the game. The official leader was Juhubert but there were other core members that also made decisions making it more of a council. For more than half of the the world, Sodom was the dominant faction before AD surfaced. During the time, they've built a city in the central super-grid named Constantinople, a village specifically made as a neutral zone for trading while enforcing this neutrality with (mostly) success. They maintained decent standing with other members. They were initially friendly with AD though at some point, some controversial issues has caused the relationship between Sodom and AD to deteriorate. Even then, the tension wasn't constant conflict but more of a cold war where both side will not fully mobilize against each other due to the potential losses of a major clash. Their only major battle was The Battle of Black Helicopter Base what was mostly fought by archers. Both side lost 3 combatants before the battle ended prematurely.

At world 5, most of the core members made the city Pandemonium which has some similar aspect except there is no neutral trade city anymore. Even moreso, their strength was sorely tested in a war that started before the middle of a war against a group of factions which they called the NNN (compare to the story that LadyGoo has given). Notably, members of Odditown also had lived inside this village and Ainran was later hired to fight against the NNN.

Their presence were absence from world 6 and 7

Their presence were absence from world 6 and 7 but in world 8, Burgingham and Avu headed the High Garden Faction made by mostly the same members. This time decided to avoid all politics to remain inconspicuous. Even then, they ended up having some brief conflicts with the faction named Amish Paradise before a truce was called by Ganhart to Burgingham and the conflict ended with the removal of spawningmink (Frost) from their village due to his insufferable behavior and a naked alt playing the chocobo song on the flute. However, this peace did not last long as one scout of Core (composed of members that many of them dislike Burgingham) discovered the city. Although nothing major has occurred out of this, Core harassed High Garden a few times but aside from some tension, the damage done was superficial (scout alts). Eventually, most of the members had stopped playing as Burgingham was playing Warframe and Avu went back to Path of Exile, leaving Kaios running High Garden by himself until world 9.

So far there are no records of the faction's activity in world 9.

Funny picture. I'm actually kind of surprised at both how much I do and don't understand about what's going on in there.
