That's true, they're their own bosses. And loftar chose to sleep instead of continuing to find a bug that's probably unfindable because he's so sleep deprived -- I can know, I've been there myself, a new fresh day does wonders.

They're not a traditional company though, if one at all except on paper. Their absolute reluctance to accept external help, well, I suppose it's because they consider this their magnum opus or whatever.

You can have your own business, you can have creative forms of employment (known as trash contracts), more than one job, or simply overtime thats not officially logged in (but hopefully your salary accounts for it) - working 8 hours a day/5 days a week is for people who don't want to advance in life.

Oh your silly anecdotal extremes.

Bottomline: 12 hours of work, 12 hours of nothing. But my guess is, with his post and all the recent crashes, that he's been busy longer than 12 hours already, and now wants to sleep.

Anyway, the recent barrage of posts seems to contain a lot of misunderstanding and pseudo-social science about work ethics for a forum full of sociopaths and neckbeards. And I can't be arsed too much to play as their defense force, not that they need it.

Sad sat statement, defining your advancement in life by working long hours...

Ironically all while sitting in a game forum bitching about a game not working. You might want to get back to work then!

I disagree sir. You paid for the opportunity to play something they created, this does not entitle you to be rude and demanding. That is just something you choose to do.

I too, paid for a game but I guess I must be a little more understanding that crashes are going to happen and that this is not something that they do to the server just to inconvenience us. Your play time doesn't go down so therefor you are not losing out financially when the server crashes. Have patience.

And i in turn disagree with you sir at the end of the month my play time expires and this time that i am now sitting offline looking at a dead server will that be added on to my account ? i think not so i am paying for a service that i'm not getting this in turn give us the right to be demanding (not rude that agree with) because if we all just sit patiently tomorrow its the same and the next day and so on ect... ect... i also do understand that Loftar is only one man and needs to sleep but some form of compensation should be given to the people that have payed to have 24/7 access.. I rest my case your-honer.

Actually, your subscription end moves up when the server is down, so you dont actually lose time.
its bad when the server is down on a fucking weekend afternoon though

Awesome i did not know that... have no complaints then .. i do agree that Saturday is a bad time for the server to be offline but then this could be the case with any mmo

Not if you read first about what you are getting and then still make the decision to pay ..... the devs have never hidden the fact that the game is on-going in development, has issues and bugs and that sometimes the server may need to be taken down for fixes and is also apt to crash from time to time ... you chose to pay for that and that is what you have got ..... now pls try and give the poor guy some breathing (or in this case, sleeping) space.

As Kit says earlier, they are usually really good in getting it back up again and if this bug needs time to sort out to make the game accessible to you, then it needs time ... end of story.

Well usually I expect a product I pay for to work. In this case they stated though we'd help them make the product better by paying and that it isn't quite there yet. So I know what I paid for and am patient.

It is unfortunate timing they chose a time out during prime time though.

Yes! And that's why companies hire more people to work different shifts if they need 24/7.

I am puzzled. Why did you start your question with "then"? I said that people can't work 24/7 and that is why companies hire more people to work 12h shifts or 8h shifts, who the fuck cares. The point is --> hire more people <-- that will at least monitor the server status/crash reports and fix an easy ones or wake you up to fix a hard ones if they are not competent enough. Or hire competent people.
Expand the project, go to steam, advertise, get more customers, hire more devs. That is not some sideproject anymore that the first Haven looked like being free and having a dev team of 2 friends working on it when they had a free time. This game has an enormous potential, unlimited possibilities. It lacks manpower.

What the fuck are you people saying about an auto-restarter corrupting things? It won't if it's properly implemented. I have created auto-revive systems for large distributed computing systems that run in the cloud networks from both Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud (not had the pleasure of working with Microsoft Azure yet) where there are a thousand times more things that can go wrong and the consequences are much more dire (banking systems) and yet you sit here, claiming that an auto-restarting feature for a game that has maybe 5 modules (I actually doubt it has any modules on server side, I suspect it's a monolith architecture, judging by the sloppy client code) with all the modern databasing systems and the backing up systems they provide is "not doable" or can "corrupt things"? Bitches, please.

@Loftar
You might want to look at Amazon Web Services' Glacier service. It's an extremely slow but also extremely cheap storage. It takes several hours to read a single GB from it but it also costs something around $0.02 per GB. It's perfect for storing automated backups of a database so you can at least ensure that if something "crashes and burns" you have backup twice a day. I don't know how the server side is done but if it's not backed by a modern database, then you might want to step up the technology to get along with the modern times.
