"Play this other game to competitive level to train response time." It doesn't work like that.

Please tell me how it works.

clearly you practice your reaction time by catching flies with chopsticks.

By far the only thing you'll mostly train is how to respond to elements that apply only to counterstrike, with every repetition strengthening the neural pathways to respond to those situations. How much of that can be used in a more general sense and thus to HnH is anyone's guess, but I doubt it's a lot.

In the same vein that I can be a good Dota 2 player with excellent reaction speed to situations and overall awareness (and yes, it actually is a thing that you need in those types of games) it doesn't help me that much in something like SSB.

I have a feeling you'll respond with something to the equivalent of "git gud" but hey, prove me wrong.

All these people going on about melee when archery can hit 95% of the time with 100MM/100PERC and over 400s.

You don't have to be Vigilance or Naowhut to dodge arrows... Pretty much not just running straight at them works great (spiral in, unpredictably). Putting a block up breaks aim. Lol.

Nah bro, I lapsed and didn't play Counter-Strike for a few years then fired it up 3 months ago - Since then I can absolutely see a difference in my reaction time in most situations.

I used the following as a benchmark: http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime

Though you are right, different games will train different things, something like DotA would be APM, Counter-Strike would be reaction time, RTS games would be a blend of APM and quick strategy, though you are correct in the sense that reaction time in an MMO doesn't count as much, but I think it would still help.

Explain using actual reasons why you think that. Bearing in mind that I already said IP gain would not be possible without a target.

The only reason I can think of is PvE, but surely you could make animals start with some defenses up when they are aggro'd.
