Early Game Exploit: Place your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold Shift to position a claim just outside the cave entrance. After 8 hours, the claim becomes unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside, you can freely enter and exit, but others won’t be able to—making you effectively unraidable for the first 3–7 days. Enjoy.

I am disapointed to find that this uncliamed burrow, right beside an active claim where I have met an English speaking, rathatted Hearthling, still hasn't been raided for its stash of small, medium and large gems. The steel armour has a lot of durability left, too, and there's some decent quality furiniture on the cart.

Even my jam packed burrow from a few months ago has been left untouched. (no gems in this one, but it's got a wealth of newbie materials.

Be sure to look around outside of your palisades from time to time - the world of Hearth changes while you're grinding away indoors.

If I was starting to play now, I'd take the leather from the tanning tub for the discovery, eat what's on the table and leave. Maybe take some straw to get a nice roof.
We are incredibly late into W16. It's all worthless unless you have some Sub Tokens hidden in there.

Those are really cool Caves of Wonders!
You could probably look up in-game coordinates, cipher 'em, and post somewhere to send avid souls on a merry treasure hunting.

I like to think these are useful caches for other newbies - some reletively good loot and enough materials to kickstart a decent set of tools and gilded clothes .. It's basically my way of 'paying back' for raiding decayed claims. around q100 across all items, which is alright for a newbie.
There're new players coming into the game all the time who may or may not find this stuff interesting or usful. I certainly do, both.
If discoveries are the key valuable here then maybe I should try to make a public library. Has that ever been done, before?

The gem cave specifically was placed next to a claim that's building a level1 mine, so it's probably worth something to them, if only they'd look.

I'd tried this with parchement ingame, it was quite fun but I never got to see the result. Maybe the forum would be more accessible, get some ingame event structure going. Thanks for the tip

The second one looks like a peak depression cave. Been there, seen that.

I imagined a boar killing an plate armored noob with a punch and agility of -100. It would be a long and bloody battle after which he most likely dies from wounds. It makes sense to hide not items but tables covered with food and cabinets full of food in burrows. Entering a rotten village, I’d rather find a silk-covered table and cupboards filled with food than even a blacksmith's hammer or pickaxe.

It would make a fun image, don't you think? A battered, broken and bruised Hearthling within a smashed and dented metal suit. The hearthling is holding aloft a boar pelt, slurring "Totally worth it!" through blood and broken teeth. On each finger is a low quality beastring haphazardly adorned with oversized polished gems.

I did once make a pantry burrow complete with signpost saying "Beadles secret pantry - do not steal" but I find home decor and set dressings to be more interesting than stats.
