We realized that new ore quality was game-breakingly imbalanced like 5 minutes after the patch came out with a group of like 5 of us. Seems like some big issues could be avoided pretty easily if even 1 person was double checking changes like that.

I think we'll get decent mileage out of simply avoiding fundamental quality changes mid-map.

I am not super-enthusiastic about bifurcating the population to create a specific test server. This server is kind of intended to be the test-server.

My fault really, too many skipped meals and not enough sleep the past two weeks.

I understand that, especially as i've been doing the same - it's either not enough sleep and not enough eats, or too much sleep and too much eats.

A few more people on internal testing would be a good thing, but it definitely wouldn't be any kind of "test server" situation you see in typical online games. That'd be completely up to the guys and if they can find people that will be willing to be discrete while at the same time reporting everything they find instead of just waiting for it to go live and abused.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Thing is, even if the devs find people they feel discrete would the community feel the same? That was the mental stumbling block I hit with regards to previewing patches. Started wondering if community voting would help but blech, that's pretty complicated.

Alternatively, and it's a small idea I guess, we have time now where the server will be down (backup) and it's safe to release patch notes without anyone getting ahead. Could we use that time to comb for any possible problems the patch notes reveal? The ore debacle was not obvious from patch notes, but the fodder issue was visible.

Discussing about reset when people paid a lot of money to play this game just to have all of their work removed.

Logic. This isn't Haven 1 with 7 worlds. There cannot be a reset.

You're in for big disappointments down the line man...

Are you implying that you speak for everyone that has paid?

I presume though that people who paid for game time will get it again after a wipe right?

Or if the game was wiped today, they would have x amount of time still left. So if its 3 months, they still have three months. If it was 11 months, it would still be 11 months.
