It obviously copies hnh because of that one aspect that has vague similarities to something in haven.

I mean.. if you look at the video of the game and the game play looks just like HnH and has brick ovens that are just stylized versions of HnH... then you gotta wonder.

It launched today. I'll keep checking it to read what the users have to say about it. It could be a good opportunity to see if haven would thrive on steam. Although it makes me rather sad that it's that game and not haven that is breaking into the survival market there.

It is tragic jorbtar are too afraid to go onto Steam when this twatty game is on there.

Still... it does look like fun. Maybe this is the Single Player HnH jorbtar ought to have made to appease the dozens of fans over the years.

I'll have to check it out in more detail! For eight bucks... hrm....

I don't think it's that. There could be a lot of reasons, but that isn't one of them. They've even expressed interest in Steam in the past. (And I know loftar knows the Steamworks API a bit because he was working on it for Paradox back during Salem development, or at least that was my understanding... could be wrong.)
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Steam would mean putting the default client up on display, and people who like keeping and playing all of their games through/on steam would be turned off by that in itself.

Playing Haven has 4 stages
Discovery of the game > default client > custom client > burn-out or addiction

Would be a massive work, not only about steam features and integration but also polishing, controls, interface, menu, etc...so i guess would require at least 1-2 years only for that, and it means not gameplay updates all along. Moreover no wipes will be allowed, or only few of them...and that mean a lot of work on the map generation also.
In short i guess is much better improving the game right now with all the big features discussed, seasons, weather,etc...i guess the best hope is in improving the game on its own, increasing the community (and profit)...and maybe then they could look at something like steam, maybe even hiring some staff to make that jump faster (advertisements, polishing, optimitation....) I guess if no "big" profits will be earned from this version of the game it will not be worth the effort to put on steam or whatever..

P.S. That game you see on steam is a lot easier than H&H, being single player first of all.

Ohhh and don't forget that the game will become quickly a crap to satisfy the commercial demand that a game on steam require....to be economically sustainable.

It's not that the main issue...

Yeah, I know, just saying, so many shit reasons this game doesn't have more coverage. Most of them out of the control of our beloved devs. Which is why this butthurt thread exists.

Today even that crap of Wild Terra is out on Steam....i'm spamming all these games hub with Haven & Hearth advertisments (they have to pay some fee to J&L :)), hope it could help our gorgeous game.

Even the music is pretty much the same of Salem...that free music from incompetech.
I suggest J&L to follow that game on steamchart to make some analysis about playerbase numbers....it could be helpfull, we'll see how good or bad it will go...
