Discussion with J&L about how long the world will last

I have never felt the need to post on the forum before, but the whinging of entitled children is sickening, just be happy this great game exists at all, no you won't get time back you paid for game time and you got that time, resets are inevitable eventually, we don't get votes hopefully jorb and loftar will make their game however they see fit, and they don't owe you anything.

Pretty sure Jorb clarified early on that wipes WILL happen, no way around it, except that they'd try to only do it when absolutely necessary and likely after they have the mapgen improved. But tbh when one happens it'll just be what it is. I can't expect the game to not change at all because I got game time. It needs to evolve and sometimes a wipe will be needed to better test mechanics.

perhaps i may offer you an alternative opinion. Assume that i have been spending lots of time from the start of w8 with the goal of getting steel . i grinded my ass off to get it to a reasonably high pre-patch quality ~50 avg. With the introduction of this patch, suddenly all my steel are now crap wall grade q. This renders all the effort i have put into grinding the q up to the patch moot.
Furthermore, in my person opinion, IF because of this patch the lifespan of w8 is shortened(IF), it would also render any additional effort/time i put into the game from this point forth moot.
Hence, while i greatly enjoyed the game, especially seeing the fruits of my labor, I am beginning to question whether i should just wait for w9 before playing again.
just my thoughts, reasonable people will disagree.

I still don't see how this is different from finding a q100 carrot seed as a farmer.
I can understand better the concern about the world lifespan, but do you really think that this might make a big impact long term when the quality system has no technicaly no cap? And even so, you could say the same about every action in the game. The world will likely reset someday, why bother? Enjoy the moment I say.

Also, another issue i feel i should raise is that of the decision making processes of the devs. From my viewpoint after people discovered the crazy HQ ore, many people were asking for a restart or a rollback. The strange phenomenon being that the very people who got the ores themselves asking for such action. During the downtime, while the devs were contemplating action, they unilaterally decided to just keep the ore q. This could be summed up by what another player mentioned, that the devs 'went ahead and did the worst possible option'. Again, i feel i should quantify that these are from my viewpoint and from the information that i have(for all i know the devs could have a whole think tank which weighed the pros and cons) and that the devs previously have been incredibly receptive to player suggestions.

Well, I wouldn't honestly want a 3 day rollback. I build a fuckton of stuff on the past 3 days prior to the patch, and was unable to play since then up till today, so I would have to redo a bunch of things (including cheeses) from scratch, just because the meta could change. I really don't see why should pontential hundreds of players be penalized for a fuckup of the devs. A fuckup that might not even be that harmful in the end.

We do not only link it. You have to explicitly check a box to agree to it.

What will happen to sketches/hats in world reset? Can we receive them again on new world or are they gone forever?

Hats are intended as account upgrades, so those will stay. Sketches are intended to be consumables, so we would most likely restore those with some sort of cutoff in time, (Sketches bought less than a year ago, say) and also let you keep any still in your hearth fire, say.
