The amount of boring daily chores you have to do is proportional to the power you wish to attain.
Taking care of it all is a LOW price for all the damage you can inflict upon the world.

It's the least the huge raiding villages should do, manage themselves.

If one doesn't like feeding cows, then one shouldn't build and aim too big. Go make a hermitage or something if it suits better.
If people want to grind quality like crazy and have huge amounts of food, cheese, metal, &c... then yes, they should work their asses off for it.

Isnt it a goal of competitive game - to get as much advantage as you can with minimum effort? What finding top q clay differs from writing usefull bot? :)
You call one acceptable and another unacceptable, other people thinks different.
Whining is useless, because whining cant stop people from using it.
Pls close topic as pointless.

Whining on the forums is absolutely an effective tactic. We had people whine about auto-hearth, and now it has been made useless, and there is no way to escape someone (who probably has bot-fueled stats) from killing you if you run into them in the wild.

Way to complicated. I had only one in the end: ProgressQuest.jbot

Given the names in the screenshot, yes, by far.
Mainly it was an interesting programming challenge.

To be honest, a dedicated server where one could control your character only through a script (which runs server side, multiuser with fair share based on instruction count or execution time slices) would be a fun thing to play with, but I guess such nerdy stuff would not find enough users.

But the topic that bots break a game aimed at a human player base is still on the table.

Well I mean, they already semi automated farming. If they would make it drink and continue what it was up too, and when planting an area pick up the fucking beets or carrots itself and continue the planting pattern you chose, then people wouldn't need farming bots. Same goes for mining. It seems to me the simplest solution to all the botting issues is for them to improve the human aspect of tasks that are super tedious, like giving a subtle visual cue that their is higher q water, soil or clay to be found here.

In simple words, the problem about Haven (on the bot subject) is that its semi-realistic nature of survival and daily chores demand a large population of human beings that have been the slaves, serfs, workers, etc through history. Literally.

Point is, when people play a game, they (usually) don't want to play a game where they play the slaves, serfs, workers, etc. They want to play the slave masters, the lords, the knights, the business owners...

Thus most games that deal with mundane daily chores (milking a cow or tending crops) aim for some sort of automation.

In Haven we barely have any kind of automation AND no one wants to play kingdom serf while others fill their bellies with midnight blue cheese and go out to bang walls... so, yeah. Bots.

That's why I believe that one of the two things are the most obvious (and maybe only truly effective) options:
1- Some kind of automation gets available to all.
2- Some kind of game balance that makes chores progressively easier/less stupid towards 'end-game'. Let's say... pretty much self-sustaining.

Or the devs could introduce small mini games that pops up in uneven intervals that only human beings could solve.
Maybe add a random prize to solve it correctly. (Not a very big prize). The mini games could have a Haven theme ofc..

Check random players/give someone trusted enough a feature to spectate random players & if you find a botter ban everyone from the village & nuke the whole village + give coords out on forums.

I'm sure that it would take one week and noone would bot

No....... just, no.

Bots can be made to easily do those as well, and again, we dont need the game to stab legit players in the neck just because some people use bots.

Cant tell if troll, but no........ because then you have super moderators that botters will rage and complain about wrongly being nuked, J&L then have to investigate, wasting their time.
