Anyone coming into this game new from steam is completely alienated from the supreme autists that will utilize these things. The reality that this diminishes player retention isn't an opinion but an observable effect that most of you choose to willfully ignore because you don't actually care about the game.

"HOW CAN I GET BETTER AT PVP" and the majority of people will disingenously suggest learning to run and kite, whilst utilizing auto-drinking, often auto-switching, custom clients. It's exaclty like the losers in runescape that utilize the auto-switching custom client/extensions in PVP. There's literally no difference.

I don't even play this game, but come see me in vanilla without your auto-whateverthefucksss and see what happens. I'm an elite GAMER, in chess, in MOBAs, in anything; Successful in life, successful in games.

What's poppin'

Quote from the current announcement thread to illustrate my point.

Everybody knows, but everyone pretends otherwise. Just like 9/11 all over again.

My posts aren't even for yall, when I speak it's directly to the administration and I've just gotta tolerate yous.

>OP is mentally ill guy. -- funny to use OSRS as an example considering that jagex devs disclaimed liability and banned client exploiters, but Runelite remains as the defacto main client.... and it's 3rd party.--
>as for automation, idk dude.. its technically better that automation is not released to the public and that as little botters exist as possible.
However, there are 2 elements to consider:
1) i know that jorbtar has demonstated a level of disdain for botters but i also understand that they do not really play their own game, on the whole. and when jorb finally played with alchemy recently, he realized that crafting actually sucks for picking out specific ingredients. (many of the recent changes have likely come from some developer playtime and we are all deeply appreciative of the new content and some QOL.)
2) automation comes out anyways as restrictions on productivity go away. ie, cheese is less awful to produce, and more forgiving. item stacking becoming ubiquitous across almost every item object.

ultimately you can make some point against botting or how botters are demonstrating where the game is not fun to play or just plain grindy in a mindless way. but PVE servers do not fix this. local realms could, in-theory provide a platform for great singleplayer/friendgroup play, but many of the systems of haven somewhat revolve around player interaction and have a freeform nature to them that would have to be adjusted for that permutation of the game.

the reason people stop playing haven is out of boredom
thus, if you want to solve for boredom, as a developer, then you you kind of have to sort out what people are doing with their time in game that burns them out.
I know a good many eternal farmers and hunters, miners that hit a quality wall. there's semi-strict limits on quality that appear as a hardcap by the server. you have caps of stone at around 350-500 depending on nodes, animals that rarely exceed 200-300.... where the answer is to interact with the livestock system without putting a gun in your mouth.

there is no forever quality number go up game to play because most sane people quit after the big leaps are finished. metal ->hard metal -> steel... a deep enough minehole .. a few troll kills.. or in some cases "we destroyed the only other faction - our job here is done"
murderers basically stop playing after 1-3 months. they run out of targets as players naturally drop off for reasons unrelated to pvp.

the good people of this forum have said repeatedly over the years that they want an end-game to aspire for. I agree. More lofty PVE content is highly desirable. i think dungeons are awesome, but there's a lot more room for other interesting things.
i kind of wish that there was some kind of world boss that crawled the earth, or something magical to uncover through alchemy and npc quests --- or anything that justifies tending the farms for an eternity.
another stupid day of my worthless hermit life

Well for starters, maybe we should stop 5 mobs aggroing you at the same time from causing a client crash.

It would be awesome to see things like trolls or giants walk the over world as they are disturbed by players mining deeper and deeper.

Didn't one of the worlds have an apocalypse event where trolls walked out and players raced to build some kind of a doomsday device to end the world? Did I imagine that? It's actually genius to give the players agency to when a world reset would happen.

I once had a dream (my main source of verified information). In it, they added a new endgame expansion to Haven.
The main map remains the same—an archipelago separated by strips of ocean. But in the southeast, they added a separate, huge content separated from the main map by a gigantic ocean (implying a rework of knarr repairs, as well as a minimum ship quality requirement. I also think they added a new ship type—the longship—but I don't remember for sure).
This content is inhabited by hostile NPCs (they use PvP mechanics in battle), whose villages can be attacked (integration of siege mechanics into PvE). The NPCs themselves also don't tolerate new settlers, but actively try to besiege all their villages.
In that dream, factions fought for the most lucrative lands on the new continent (resources were not distributed evenly by the randomizer), but in times of need, everyone came together and defended the trading city where hermits sold supplies from the Old World.
