It's usually pretty decent for me except when I have to move items around. Having to wait that half second delay every time I click on an item is extremely annoying

Ah yes, that's actually intentional, so that one can keep the client on in the background without consuming system resources all the time. It actively lowers its own framerate when backgrounded. If you don't want that behavior, you can set the background FPS limit with, for example, :bghz 100.

how can i set that background fps?

the fps / freezing type of lag is reduced using the modified clients
