I think you're good for now, but just expect a reset in the future after a lot of implementations have been made
the proliferation of automation is the rot of this game, with the next worst thing being the filth that plays it (you, probably.)

take it this way. even though i believe that the next reset is not coming any time soon, especially from the way devs have talked so far, if it does in the near future, your friends can start more easily with you at the new world, with accumulated knowledge and experience of what are supposed to be done at first. it will be a lot easier and faster to have a decent settlement back to where you are now, or even better. most players know whoever that says "im waiting for the new world to start" will never get a head start and quit early on anyways and wait for the next world again.

Been out three whole months and you're already done
We're livin' the life but you're havin' no fun
If you're mad 'bout this world I feel bad for you son
I got 99 goals but a reset ain't one.

The game has uncapped progression by definition as long as multiple characters are possible.

Yeah, but now it's twice uncapped. I am raising four characters now, and I believe I am on the lower end of the character quantity spectrum. And there's no way to cap character quantity which wouldn't be a cure worse than the disease.

Also, industrial paradigms change with the age of the world, and eventually a few things crystallize as the best and thus majority of the game's content becomes useless. So yeah, I just don't see a way the game can work without regular resets.

I'm more optimistic than that.

Then you should take steps to alleviate the industry thing (character quantity is a lost cause). For example, having equipment (de)buffs as percentages rather than fixed numbers would go a long way towards preventing vast majority of equipment becoming obsolete a couple of months into a world.
