Tale of Toast is having an alpha weekend soon, I have never played it though. You can ask their Discord bot for a Steam key.

It's a crafting-survival-RTS controlled by javascript input. It sounds interesting, I'm curious to hear what haven coders think about it.

I've got it on my wishlist, but haven't picked it up yet. That subscription fee for full access to the massive public server deters me. At least, when I've seen other programming and puzzle games out there that are good for the same or less and have access to player made levels and mods.

Not sure I'd call this one "haven like" at all.

You pay 15 euros for the game and then like 10 euros a month, so you can actually play it? Sounds like a bad deal, though it seems that you can also play in private/community servers without paying the fee.
I dont see much point in it. If you want to play games and stuff, then play games that are polished and designed for optimal gaming experience (games that you dont have to code partly yourself)
If you want to code instead of gaming, you could maybe code something meaningful or learn to code new things.

But I have to admit that after writing this post, I might want to try it.

I have try this game before. Too much like working. If I will work for free, I will do some thing with more use than play this game.

I agree, also the tutorial seems to be very laggy at least in some browsers. I also have high doubts on how much gameplay it offers after the initial coding to get your things up and running.

Also I dont know who would want to pay to code javascript!

Better alternatives such as factorio exist.

since Dwarf Fortress is coming to Steam, I finally managed to learn the game, thanks to this tutorial, there's also this tiny tutorial in less detail

instead of micro managing you do a lot of macro and the DF machine does the rest, but you can save the game and relax
