Yes, all bodies are being stashed nearby for burial before the altar.

CHAPTER 20, EPILOGUE:
INTO THE WEST

Exactly three days after Jorb was murdered at the End of the World Feast, and buried on the Retreat... This happened.

Image

And Altar of Ruin... The final omen that this world is coming to pass...
The scent of brimstone flooded the air across the hearthlands as we all started to realize that this was our fate.
It was happening.

Image

The days that followed were all intense and interesting.
The Retreat started seeing activity as never before. Crowds came with banners, with songs and chants about the End... All came to see the living Jorb, risen from the dead, shackled to the Altar.

Image

Knowing that the end was near, I've gathered a couple of friends and we've visited Wulfkin's grave one last time.

"I hope you're proud of all that was achieved, my father... I hope I have honored the Wulfborn."

Image

We've also buried Wulfbrother, who gave his life away challenging the Altar.
It was a sad moment, but one out of despair. Not everyone can deal with the upcoming doom - and many of them look for faster ways into Valhalla...

Image

Another thing that had to be done was to visit the beautiful town of Belle Dame one last time. Accompanied by its lady, we've reached the port with Dawnbreak and were able to delight ourselves with the beautiful roads and trees.

Image

The smell of brimstone didn't yet reach this place.
Unfortunately, we know that it eventually will... There will be no mercy.
All shall be equally engulfed by the storm of fire that shall cleanse the land; the rich and the poor, the strong and the weak, kings and peasants...
Everything shall be gone... so it may be born again.

Image

As the days progressed, things started to get more and more... insane.
I realized we now had two pet Mammoths enclosured in the Retreat, bodies piling up, graves being built, visitors screaming and singing prophecies of doom...
Everyone was stark raving mad.

Image

We had duels to the death;
Most prominently was that of the King of the Ivory Kingdom, Kaios, against Frosty from AD.
It was an epic battle worthy of song and legend... And forever recorded in history, thanks to Jesus Smith Nandez! You can watch it by clicking HERE.

Image

But, in the end, even the King killed himself before the Altar of Ruin...
After a long moment of meditation he just stood there, opened his arms and offered his soul to Jorb. His last words: Fuck da police.

Image

As bodies piled up and the skies turned black above the mountain, I knew it was time...

It was time for my last journey. The one I had been writing about, the one that shall mark the end of my story...

Image

It was time to sail into the West.
(Tip: Click here for a final musical background)

Image

Lay down
Your sweet and weary head

Image

The night is falling
You have come to journey's end

Image

Passing the beautiful town of Belle Dame one last time...

Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before

Image

They are calling
From across the distant shore

Image

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?

Image

A loom... An omen of what's looming ahead...

Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away

Image

Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

Image

Passing by the great town of Sevilla...

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?

Image

Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home

Image

Then it comes... One very important stop before the end...
I reach land as the sun starts to fall on the horizon.

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
All Souls pass

Hope fades
Into the world of night
Through shadows falling
Out of memory and time

Image

Don't say
We have come now to the end
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again
And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping

Image

In the next morning, I set sail once again...

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the West

THE END

I have no words for now.
A huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone that somehow helped or was part of this story.
It doesn't matter if little or much, if for a while or for longer... It doesn't matter.
In a way, everyone that has been there, has helped, has talked, commented here... All that will always be here, in memory and heart.
Thank you so much for helping me make it happen, for reading it until the end...
Special thanks to Jorb and Loftar for creating such a beautiful game!

And this is it.
That's a wrap :)
See you all in World 10!

Love,
Dani
