Game Development: Endless Wolves & Disease Dungeons

Postby jorn » Sun Apr 01, 2018 11:35 pm

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

New Implementations
-----------------------
Finally - wolves! Small harmless critters. While they are difficult to interact with, with very un-polished in mechanics, we are working on it. Will consider!

New mechanics: A prisoner of nature. Now if you fail while hunting wild beast and become KOed, there is a chance that beast will take from your carried or worn items, or they may your character to its lair. It is a fascinating mini-dungeon with a maze that will allow you 4-6 hours of new, non-stop gameplay! Try not to die in these dungeons!

We also decided that the waterways are too quiet for travel and so we've finally added water predators. Meet the new rare water creatures: whales and sharks.
Be carefull!

We recently talked with our old friend from Salem, the project which we abandoned, and realized that the hearthling's life should suffer even more. Suffering is our new (and old) motto.
We have taken into account all of your wishes, and you will now suffer greatly from these implementations.

Miner's cough is only the beginning of our madness.
Also, you will now find fascinating mechanics such as infectious diseases. Additionally, you can enjoy the Bubonic plague, cholera, diarrhea and of course, the flu (a deadly disease).

Expect new accidental injuries, such as tetanus when digging soil, or allergies when working with crops along with many other great(tm) additions that will give you the opportunity to spend even more time on tedium!

For miners we have a lot of individual surprises, I hope that you will like it!

There are also a few spoilers: we are ready to admit that this world is lasting a little too long, and so we are preparing a wipe within roughly the next 3 months. Actually, Loftar wants a new car, and I ... well, you know!
Very soon you hearthlings will be able to build a world-ending altar. We have changed its mechanics so that you will have something to do over the next few months.

In an attempt to avoid discouraging interest for the game over the remaining time, we have added the ability to find a variety of unique capes by interacting with a wild animals. From now on, apart from horns and hooves, some animals will randomly drop capes. Fun!
The mechanics of storing the capes are similar to hats, in that they carry on attached to your accounts into the new world, so it would be smart to make at least 5 more accounts to store them! We appreciate our generosity.

In the new world we plan to attract investors to our project, so we are looking in to partnering with Steam at some point.

New differentiated prices for hats. Depending on the state of your subscription, you may be pleasantly surprised by the prices!
Store Description: wrote:Image $10 Fools. And clowns! Joke for everyone!

A new fool hat will be added to all unsubscribed players for free. Gold subscribers will be able to purchase it for $30, silver subscribers for $20 and bronze for a modest $10.

Sounds legit
“We still, alas, cannot forestall it-
This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

It was the second line with whales and sharks when I realized it was a joke. Unfortunate.
However the fact that some of these implementations are so far away that we are making jokes about them is unfortunate/concerning.
Of course however a new hat is nothing to scoff at.
