I'm experiencing gamer fatigue in my region.
Poeple play, but on a much smaller scale than before.

Has it been more players for a longer time than any world before?

No, never. We're pretty impressed ourselves.

I can't help but notice that the numbers are dwindling like previous worlds. 50% of my "village" has been deserted. I think the game reaches a point where there are few new things to do. The new things available are too time consuming (behind big stat requirements for example) to the average player. What can we do to keep the interest up?

You plateau once: the walls are up, the claims cover everything that matters, all domestic animals are tamed with more than you need at any given time, you have a lvl 5+ mine with access to all metals, when trees start slowing down to RNG rolls because of herb table/soil/water/pot limitations, and when your stats are high enough to face tank or cheese any animals you'd encounter on the surface

Once you've reached the goals above all that's left is maintenance/repetition and maybe the odd dungeon if you have enough active villagers left at that point to progress through them in one sitting. Surprisingly, people don't find that very engaging.

yep good description of what i meant with overpaced ... all this in 2-4 month ... i wonder how a persistent world should ever work when a good amount of the "main backbone" of players (vets - multisubbers) are through with it in that short time ... especially in the light of "can't catch up" and "wipe wipe i'm bored" ...

Humans seem to like war (at least as a spectator sport, not so much when being subjected to it), so that could be an option.
Sadly that's not compatible with how character development in H&H currently works.

PvP won't be successful until caps are put in place. Rename this iteration to World AD.

Honestly i play HnH mainly because i can refuse to play war ... or spectacle it ... it has already a much too big focus ... the best things i ever encountered in HnH where all those friendly cooperative acts (that often enough got smashed by warmongers) ... and when i look at the development part of social interaction i don't see much change in helping that "player driven" stance since years ... maybe it's time to focus more on that ?!?
