Unless im just checking this after a server restart or something, this seems like a pretty drastic drop even in the past week or 2. Legacy definitely did not see this low of a playercount outside of w6's lagpocalypse. Worth noting too, at the start of the world the game was pretty consistently hitting 1500 players online.

People build up their bases (for most that just means a pclaim/vclaim/palisade and most of the crop types) and then quit once everything is central and established

Probably a large part of the problem is that there are players that actually think something like tedium is anything more than a poor placeholder for real content that this game badly needs more of. How are the developers supposed to know what to change and how to change it if there are retards like that making suggestions and filling their heads with nonsense garbage about what they think makes the game fun like great activities such as “ruining the game for every player with less time than them” that’s a really fun activity that promotes growth.

At some point you have to take a look at your players and consider that listening to some of these idiotic suggestions might be part of the reason why your game is failing. Stop listening to hardcore players trying to dominate and start listening to people that want to have fun with your game for once and play like it’s a fucking video game instead of a chore simulator.

Indeed, you checked some 3 hours after a seriously looking server outage.

It did hover around 1000-1500 players for quite some time. It was actually impressive compared to previous worlds. Today it looks like the average is 250-300. 70-80% of the players just gone without any new players to replenish the world. Once you step away from the game as it is, you don’t come back. Core aspects of this game, the fundamentals, are simply flawed. I’d like to see more experimental attempts to fix these fundamental issues because the current formula isn’t working, has never worked and will never work. They’ll have to take word from the regular players and not from screeching obligation-less NEETs.

Has there been another crash today? The numbers are the exact same. It seems odd that a server outage could suddenly drop the active playerbase by 20% and have it stay that much lower.

IDK why you are jumping at me. You asked if you checked after server restart. Yes you did. You can check Discord chat.
I am not questioning drop in active playerbase which is also visible in game. You just picked questionable time as your example.

  • quality should go up significantly slower like w7
  • quality should matter less so that shit like low q sausages cheese is actually worth something
  • credos shouldnt give any overpowered buffs so that people dont feel forced to do them (strider/herder) it should rather be quality of life buffs
  • the lag that the player animation makes in pvp should seriously be looked at ( -20fps from just that alone its ridiculous)
see homo sexuality trending,. do not do that.

Movement buffs attached to credos are actually pretty OP and you are at a huge disadvantage if your opponent has all of the movement credos and you do not.

Fisherman credo:
Increased speed when swimming.

Strider Credo
-Traverse ridges faster (like frikkin 60% faster btw)
-Reduced stamina drain from running in forests (Pretty much everywhere outside of your walls is a forest tile lol. During chases/escapes you drain less energy and drink less often than your opponent (drinking makes you run slower))

Pearl-diver:
-Increased speed when swimming

And in some niche situations, hunter & forager:
-Increased speed when pursuing animals
-Speed bonus when chasing small animals

(Basically chasing rabbits or animals you've sent fleeing in the direction you'd like to go)

This is assuming you're both running on land chasing/fleeing
