Hadn't seen mixer before. Out ouf touch with the kids!

Mixer is streaming platform made by microsoft.
You and loftar surely do not want to support a company like that?
Amazon is way better, right?

no because they support animal abuse, and over sexualization to an audience mostly comprised of minors. I hope that website dies

Since I'm officially in "old man" territory now and don't have a damn clue as to what all the new services and crap are (since I can't ever be bothered with Facebook that's getting close to 20 years old now), I figured I'd check out mixer.... mixed reviews at best. Saw a news story about Ninja losing 30% of his audience since the move (which is normal). Saw another story on the whole "A vs B" thing. One more on Twitch promoting a porn feed on Ninja's abandoned account.

Twitch's scripting is definitely laggy. It's only gotten worse the last year or two.

Is it? I don't know. Isn't that where you go from "doing it for fun" to "making a living?" If I ran a stream, I'd be happy. Don't get me wrong. More is definitely better, as these guys get paid per person watching.

20,000 is not terrible if you maintain that average every stream and even if you don't that's still way more viewers than many other streamers ever get. Also considering it's on a platform with less exposure that makes it quite good as well. Although, if you consider his views on Twitch I believe he averaged 40-60k viewers each stream and his peaks were insane going well over 100k on numerous occasions. But there are other streamers such as Tfue and Shroud who both average 40-60k themselves each stream and a streamer like summit1g can easily maintain 10-30k regardless of the game he is playing so I think Ninja will have serious issues to think about if/when other popular streamers decide to switch platforms and attract some of that attention away from him.

Right now you can subscribe to Ninja for free on Mixer as of the 1st of August and that offer lasts until the end of this month. During this time Microsoft and Ninja aren't receiving revenue from any of those free subscriptions nor are there any ads integrated in to the stream like Twitch has implemented though I'm not certain about that. After those free subscriptions expire in the 2 month period (depends on when someone subscribes during August which is why it's about 2 months) then it will be much easier to gauge how well he is doing at that time by how many subscriptions and viewers are retained.

You could certainly say he's also made his streaming in to a business at this point rather than simply doing it for fun. What is the dude gonna do, stream Fortnite et al for the rest of his life for the 11-15 year olds that have become the majority of his fan base? Yes if he wants to continue to succeed financially, no if he never wants to enjoy video games again. Not that I think he has much to worry about in terms of money for a long, long while.

Thing is... fan bases age, along with the person they're fanning over. The Jonas Brothers certainly didn't continue to play to tween girls as they've gotten older. The star learns to adapt to their fans, or they start losing those fans. Sometimes a star gets big enough they can just do their own thing and they find as many or more fans than they lost from not doing the old thing anymore. Fame is finicky that way.

You are right but to add on to that the viewers themselves are quite finicky. Most streamers have a core audience that will watch them play whatever game they want because they watch for the personality of the streamer rather than for a particular game. But there’s also a huge number of viewers that watch for the new and poppin’ games and when streamers aren’t taking advantage of what’s popular right now, they do lose out on revenue. That’s what I mean when I say many streamers eventually have to make that decision, do they want to enjoy what they do and play the games they like or do they sacrifice that enjoyment for greater success.

Not sure if they have time for a stream while doing those seasons-related update, but i assume we can use that morale buff that streams always give. Go live, JLo!
